Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Arusha town; you will meet your Genet African Safaris guide who will brief you on your upcoming safari. All the basic information about your safari will be given to you by safari guide.

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Your Serengeti Great Migration adventure begins with a 7:30 AM pickup from your Arusha hotel. Depart for Tarangire National Park, a 140 km drive that takes approximately 2 hours. Tarangire is famed for its diverse landscapes and nine distinct vegetation zones, including seasonal swamps and ancient baobab trees. The park is home to thousands of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, and over 500 bird species, offering exceptional wildlife viewing for both animal and bird enthusiasts. Enjoy a game drive throughout the park with a picnic lunch stop, before departing in the late afternoon for your lodge in Karatu.

Two

Tarangire – Central Serengeti

After breakfast, journey through the lush highlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Serengeti National Park, home to vast plains teeming with wildlife. Arrive in the Seronera area, one of the park’s richest wildlife habitats, where the Seronera River attracts abundant game. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive, spotting predators, herbivores, and diverse birdlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Three

Central Serengeti – Northern Serengeti

After breakfast at 8:00 AM, explore the central Serengeti before heading north towards Kogatende. En route, encounter resident wildlife including zebras, topi, gazelles, buffaloes, lions, and leopards. Arrive in the northern Serengeti, where the terrain shifts from plains to hilly and broken landscapes. Enjoy a picnic lunch during your journey and, time permitting, spend a few hours at the Mara River, observing dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration. End the day with dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Northern Serengeti – Mara River & Lobo Valley

Begin each day at 8:00 AM with a full-day game drive. From mid-June to September, the Mara River hosts the most dramatic wildebeest river crossings of the Great Migration. Witness the wildebeests battling the swift currents while crocodiles wait in ambush—a truly unforgettable natural spectacle. Explore the Lobo Valley, with its woodlands, plains, hills, and granite kopjes. The valley is abundant with big cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as resident and migratory herbivores. Enjoy picnic lunches during the game drives and return each evening for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Northern Serengeti – Central Serengeti

After breakfast at 8:00 AM, journey south back to the Seronera area, passing through the Mara River Valley, Lobo area, and Serengeti woodlands. Enjoy en route game viewing, spotting plains wildlife, predators, and the Seronera River’s thriving ecosystem. Arrive in central Serengeti for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive, watching lion prides, leopards, and other resident wildlife. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti. Spot any remaining wildlife you may have missed, including the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. After a picnic lunch, drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at the crater rim to witness the awe-inspiring Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to over 25,000 animals. Watch the sunset over the caldera before retiring to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Rise early for a game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater, where savannah, forests, and crater walls are home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including Big Five, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, and over 500 bird species. After a morning game drive and picnic lunch, depart the crater and return to Arusha, arriving in the early evening to conclude your safari.
